Once you have an approved free online survey account, it takes only a few minutes to build the survey and deploy it on the website. The survey form can be customized with a predefined survey theme.
Pre-requisites for Website Survey
In order to build and deploy a survey form on the website, you need to have access to the website contents. If you are the owner or webmaster of the website you will have the FTP access to the website code.
You also must decide the questions to be asked on the survey form based on the objective of the survey. A website survey should be generally short with a couple of questions on a single page; otherwise the survey completion rates will be very low.
Creating the Web Survey
Once you have the questions in mind (or typed in a notepad), creating the survey is a breeze. After logging into the survey builder account, go to the Survey Definition menu link. Existing surveys will be displayed in the list. Use the Create a New Survey link and the system will guide you through a simple step by step process.
- Enter a name (for your internal use) and a title (for display on the top of the survey page) for the new survey.
- In the next step, select a theme from the list of pre-defined themes displayed in a dropdown; you may customize the colors at this time if you want.

Building the Survey Questionnaire
The Survey Builder system includes a number of survey question types such as text input, yes / no, multiple choice, matrix type, etc. This being a website survey, it should be simple and short. Select a suitable question type and enter the question details. You can repeat the process to add a few questions and properties.
Deploying The Survey on the Website
Surveys can be deployed on websites in the following two methods:
- as a text or image link with a hyperlink to the Survey URL
- as pop-up window (with an embedded code snippet)
A web link based approach is preferred as it will be less intrusive. Whereas the pop-up approach might turn off some visitors.
Once the questions are entered, one or more data collectors can be defined based on the approach that suits your requirements. The collector parameters can be specified and activated along with the survey.
The system will provide the code at the end of the collector definition step. Use the code snippet or web URL link (as the case may be) to integrate with your web page. The survey can be integrated and deployed on one or more pages.
